I’ve stumbled across this quotation twice in the last seven days. It struck me as interesting first time. It struck me as important to share the second time.
A human being is a part of a whole, called by us, universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest… a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
Einstein
Are you ready to break out of this prison by widening your circle of compassion?

This has been my personal message for some time now, Doc. In fact, my closing comment to my yoga class yesterday was to ask them to consider that they are NOT separate and isolated; that we all belong to – and are responsible for – one another.
so true.
And i do l ike how this picture shows both sides of the arguement
Bob,
Wonderful quote. It was a good day to return to your blog. 🙂
Currently, I have an easier time embracing the “whole of nature in its beauty” while separating myself from human society.
