My “amazing” seems to be less in images than in impressions. Maybe it’s because I’m a writer; I don’t really think in terms of pictures I can see with my eyes, but rather images that form in my mind.
Now that I’ve said that, though, I think of the times I notice a particular slant of light through my houseplants, or the curve of my daughter’s cheek as she sits to read. Just as often, however, I’ll be taken up short by a stranger’s kind smile or the feel of my own breath.
I feel sorry for the zombies…
You know, mrschili, what amazes me MOST every day?
Stories.
My everyday (well, monday to friday anyway) is working in a hospital and every single person I meet tells me the most amazing stories. People are endlessly fascinating. It is SUCH a privilege to spend my days immersed in the business of trying to understand people.
That fascination I have with stories permeates my non-working life too. I love to read and I love movies too. In fact, movies are where my other great pleasure, the visual image meets my love of stories.
But I’m sure we’re all different and that each of us will find the amazing more in one place than we do in another……well, as you say, unless they are zombies sleepwalking through life!
