maybe the greenery outside of a (train/car/speeding bullet) window that has been blurred to lines?
When I was little, I remember reading a magazine for school kids, and on the back page there was always a challenge just like yours: to identify a mystery photo, with the answer given in the next week. I never got them right, but it was always fun to hear how many different thoughts people had about what they saw.
you’ve got a bit of it Ester. Yes its from a train seat and the green is the speeding past banking next to the line, but there’s more to see…….
……see the face? As I travelled down from Aberdeen to Stirling on the train (a fabulously beautiful train journey hugging the East coast of Scotland) I became aware of catching the fleeting reflection of the passenger in the seat in front of me. I couldn’t see her directly for the back of the chair and her image would flicker into the window every time the train passed an embankment or some dense hedges. Then the window would be full of sky or sea again and her image would be gone. It was the transience of the image which gripped me. Ever since I visited Japan and became aware of how important the quality of transience is to Japanese concepts of beauty my awareness of the fleeting and of changes has been heightened.
