Red sky in the morning, shepherds’ warning.
Know that old saying? The rest of it is “red sky at night, shepherds’ delight”.
What the shepherds were saying was that when the sky was red in the morning there would be bad weather on the way.
That might turn out to be true, but I must say, when I opened my shutters this morning and saw this, it delighted me. I didn’t look out, see this, and think “Oh no!” (But, then I don’t have sheep to look after!)
So, turns out red sky both in the morning and at night is “Bob’s delight”. I hope it’s yours too.
Yes! I love a colorful vibrant sky! I love just having the time to really look at it. The way I always heard that old saying was: Red at night, sailor’s delight; Red in the morning, sailor’s take warning. But I guess it’s all the same in the end, right?
Yep. Just depends whether you live on the coast or up in the hills!
Gorgeous sky. We had the colors here in western Nebraska this morning, but not in such profusion. Interesting that you heard the warning for shepherds and I heard it for sailors. Exactly the same sayings except for the change of shepherds to sailors. I’d say it’s come kind of regional thing, but I grew up in the middle of a continent.
Do you suppose we’ll get a little storm if we only had a little red? I’m okay with the snow, but the wind has been punishing.
you know I reckon these signs are qualitative, not quantitative! 🙂
