I swear the colours we see in the sky constantly change and even after days, and weeks, and months and years of skies, we still look up sometimes, and think, WOW, that’s BEAUTIFUL

That sky would be neat to try and paint. It would take a lot of layering though, but I bet it would be fun. I can’t decide if watercolors, acrylics, or an acrylic wash would be best to get those effects though. Maybe watercolor and charcoal? I love the way there is crisp delineation on the clouds in places, yet they are fuzzy in others. And the subtle color shifts in clouds and sky. Gorgeous! That would be quite the challenge to portray.
Better, watercolor and pastels! (Not too oily.)
Hey, Kat, if you ever get round to doing that painting, how about sending me a photo of it? I’d like to see it
I don’t know how long it will be. Budgeting only leaves me enough for copper and brass wire, (bought from the plumbing aisle of the hardware store) and inexpensive packs of beads right now. I’ve been “playing with light” and making sun sculptures with glass beads. (Not to mention lots, and lots of jewelry. Tigertail and jewelry components aren’t pricey.) I affix them to copper or brass frames with floral wire. Touchable art for anyone, that draws attention to the way the light changes with the seasons.
If I manage to get good paper, paints (lost them in a move and haven’t been able to replace them) and pastels I’ll see if I can find a place that could maybe make a print reproduction of the work for you. (I’m sure they exist somewhere, just dunno if any are nearby that do good prints.) It is your photograph, after all. May I save it to the hard-drive against the day when I have supplies in hand?
I could probably get some Prang watercolors, and decent non-oil pastels maybe for Christmas. Maybe some decent brushes too, Rhiow somehow managed to steal my favorite brushes and chewed them to bits. It’s the paper I’m unsure of, I don’t like to do watercolor on low quality paper. (It tends to warp, for one thing.) It would require a trip to Tulsa or Bartlesville to be able to get decent paper, those are the nearest art supply stores that sell decent supplies for decent prices. The local college shop charges an arm and a leg.
My current challenge is to make an Iris flower sculpture, six petals, (three curving up, three curving down) stem, two leaves out of one peice of wire without the wire wanting to collapse in on itself. Five petals seems to be the limit you can make and have the form hold shape so far, I just haven’t discovered the “trick” yet is all.
Aiee! That reminds me, I need to get back to work making ornaments for Tori and Dean! (Murder victims, the only viable suspect is the baby’s biological father. The ten month old was hanged from his crib with a noose. It has been over a year and the Mother feels like the crime is on the backburner. The family of the suspect is rich, and knows people.) Ack! I decided to take a breather from doing that because my eyes were crossing. I want to mail a small package of things for them to be able to sell on the website to help pay the orginization costs to bring Justice. Dayna is a wonderful woman, and she deserves to have some measure of peace someday.
Er, Dayna is Tori’s mother, Dean’s grandmother, and quite a lady.
Ah, and as for Prang, they have good texture, and good pigment that does what it should do. They are also affordable, and I love their metal cases with the easily refillable pigment tablets.
I hope they still have metal cases, I actually am looking forwards to maybe getting another paint set.
