I love rainbows.
I love how a rainbow only appears when we are standing in the right place looking in the right direction.
There’s no rainbow without the viewer.
There’s no rainbow which lasts for ever. It shimmers, it deepens, it fades, you can’t find the start or the end of it (you’ll never know if there is a bucket of gold hidden there!)
It’s the symbol of hope, of promise and of diversity.
I love it’s transience, because transience heightens the present moment.
Immerse yourself in today.
My granddaughter and I used to love “making” rainbows after I discovered they are seen when one is at a 45 degree angle to the sun. This was taken around 3 years ago. Love your blogs, hope retirement is bliss for you! Kind regards, Shelagh Robertson (Nurse at Revive MS Support)
Oh…but I HAVE seen the end of a rainbow. 1987. We were moving back to Colorado from Arizona. Driving along the highway, I saw a rainbow coming down on the other side. Couldn’t see where it ended, but thought “huh, I wonder…” Parked the truck and crossed the highway and there it was – the colors going right down to the ground. (No cell phones or digital cameras back then.) No pot of gold. My daughter was acting like a snarky teen (at age 11) that day and would not get out of the truck to see it. A once-in-a- lifetime experience. (I also have a friend who was struck by lightning twice.)
